Last summer we were travveling thru Europe with my family in our car. We'd been traveling the whole day, everyone was getting tired and it was still a long way to the next city. My wife needed a bathroom real bad. What can a guy do? He needs to find the nearest MacD - for kids and for the wife. Well, in this case, we found one a couple of hours later... but some help from a phone app with GPS locationing would have helped!

So I live in a country where we speak English a lot but also a couple of other languages pretty frequently, and I cannot stand having to constantly switch my writing languages when writing text messages. Can someone come up with a way to combine multiple T9 dictionaries so I don't have to switch, or maybe just create a way of giving me a quicker way to switch between two languages?

Productivity

Very busy person

What if you could have reminders or task lists that show up when you're at a certain location? Like, if you're at work, it reminds you do a couple of things, but you get a different reminder if you're at home. Or a reminder, the next time you're downtown at a certain area, to also visit this or that shop because there was something there you wanted. So you enter that area, and the reminder pops up.

Maybe this is a second idea, but could you attach reminders to contacts, so you remember the next time you talk to them to also ask them about X or Y? Good for when you get ideas at 3 in the morning when you can't call people...

One thing I really miss about my Palm and it's syncing solution was the ability to use Intellisync to map fields. In general the Nokia PC Suite syncing solution is not very accurate especially when adding more than one email addresses. This could be solved with a more robust syncing solution.

I'd love it if there was a way to *retain* custom photo settings. I use the "vivid" color and "cloudy" settings on my N73 fairly frequently, but have to keep updating these settings when I take a series of photos. It would be a bonus if the camera could default to my custom settings whenever I use (start) the camera.

Camera & Video

nbulp

This applies to units with GPS (such as the N95):

The camera application should be able to add information about the location of the device when a photo is taken and store it as JPEG metadata.

The photo gallery application could, for example, use that information to filter images by location.

I know the GPS unit uses power and many people will choose to have it turned off almost the whole time, but I'm sure it would be a really usable feature to many (i.e. in a geoblog)!

Whenever text is being inputted but particularly when writing emails and text messages. The interface should auto complete words. For example once you have written the first two or three letters of a word the interface should guess what the rest of the word is. If it is not the right word you just keep typing; each added letter narrowing down the possible words. For long words this would speed things up tremendously.

I love that now I can use shoutcast streams on my phone, thanks to the open source shoutcast program. Especially with the advent of WiFi on phones, I don't boot my computer for radio streams any longer. But the app is a bit clunky still, and I'd like a better interface... but the REAL wish here is for a way to search for, and add, streams directly from the interface (something like Streamtuner on Linux).
If we are to believe the incredible growth in the use of email to facilitate business, then the research which shows how much email user a typical business user may need to read/digest/respond to, then surely the mobile sector need to address this? Allowing email access on the move and not providing the tools to *MANAGE* that email seems a little mis-guided. In other words, we leave the management tools to the desktop where we don't spend our time anymore?! I would dearly love to see the ability to flag emails for follow-up with the ability also to add reminders. My tasks sit not in my task-list but in my inbox. Emails often require followsup and with no management tools, productivity is lost!

For those who don't know, you set choose a profile, then say, for example, two hours later it reverts to your last selected profile. There are *some* approaches to S60 that use scheduled profiles, but nothing like this. the built in memopad is almost unusable.
* it only syncs with outlook (useless, if i wanted to sync with outlook i'd buy a pocket pc)
* it sorts in chronological order not alphabetical
* unless you have a 3rd edition phone and added global search you cannot search in it
* there are no groups like palm to separately group items.

it would be really nice if it handled csv files import and export. i mean psion did this in the early 90's with data.

Reminder program

Productivity

Kojichan

I love my old 3595, and I loved it's Calendar mode. It was simple, worked nicely, and if I wanted an alarm/reminder time, it worked well. It went off at the specified time, didn't bother you about silly things like 'meeting times, endings, where at, etc', and IT STAYED ON THE SCREEN until I got to the phone. So it was a great way of reminding myself of things.

Unfortunately, my new 6682 (SHINY), it's Calendar mode seems quite cumbersom compared to my old phone. I am looking for a simple program, that can let me set reminder dates on my phone, and times, and have the MESSAGE STAY ON THE SCREEN. The new Calendar, the message vanishes after a minute, rendering the memo useless to me...

Since then I've been dreaming to find the perfect mobile Poker Tourament Timer but have had no luck. I was sure that some poker playing developer out there would have developed it but alas, nothing. Maybe they're too busy playing poker.

There's plenty of them out there for desktops but just imagine me lugging my 22 pound Dell and my 19" old school CRT to my brother's house on Wednesday night for poker!!!

I would like an application to replace the ordinary phone book in series60 so its possible to search names without multitap.

EG. If you want to fetch John smith then you can just type 566 or 764 or with letter you want in the name.

Another feature that this application should have is that you can search phone numbers with the same string so if you search for Eg. 566 you should get results on both john and all phone numbers that includes these digits.

Hope you understand what i mean :)

I'd like a tool that recognizes movements of the device by using the camera, then use that information to control a cursor, i.e. in the webbrowser. It should be simple enough to realize hardware-wise, as it was demoed in a game that came with the Siemens SX1. Of course this would have to be implemented in a way that you needn't move around your mobile like a madman. It could be made in a way that it's only active while holding down a button, so that scrolling can be achieved by moving back and forth only a small distance.
